15 Verified Remote and AI-Era Jobs for the AI-Powered Nomad
For everyone using AI to build a freer way of working.
Every listing below was confirmed open at its source on August 1, and the handful I couldn’t confirm that way are labelled so you know the difference. That combination — checking, and admitting where the check stops — is the whole reason this newsletter exists. Job boards are full of roles that closed months ago and companies that were never really hiring.
This week’s editorial bet: the best remote seats for non-engineers are now inside AI-native companies. Every global role below is at a company whose product is AI — LiveKit (the voice infrastructure a huge share of AI agents run on), Photoroom, xAI, AltaML, jerry.ai. If you’ve been waiting for a sign that non-engineers have a real seat in the AI economy, this issue is nineteen of them.
Mercor: contract work at the frontier AI labs
Long-time readers know the model: one live AI interview matches you to contract work at top AI labs. Fully remote, you set your own hours, paid weekly via Stripe or Wise. No coding required on any of the nine tracks below.
All nine tracks below were confirmed open on the platform on August 1. I’ve also earned $37,000 through Mercor over the last four months, so the notes on each track come from having actually done the work and been paid for it, not from reading a job description.
New to the platform? Start with my earlier piece, I Updated My Résumé and Got an Instant Mercor Offer. It covers how to position yourself for the AI interview and which tracks actually pay.
I updated my resume and got an instant Mercer offer
Last week I logged into Mercor, made some edits to my profile, hit save, and within minutes got an offer in my inbox. No interview. No waiting list. No “we’ll get back to you.” Just an offer, ready for me to accept.
1. Best-in-Class Deck and Doc Crafting The most literal job title on the platform right now: people who make exceptional slide decks and documents, teaching AI what “board-ready” actually looks like. Years spent in consulting, banking, or design turning messy thinking into clean pages is now training data. ✅ Confirmed open on Mercor, August 1. Strong fit if: colleagues quietly forward you their decks to fix before the big meeting. ➤ https://t.mercor.com/MV9Fr
2. Music Audio Expert, Italian Musicians and audio professionals fluent in Italian, evaluating how AI handles music and sound. Mercor has been hiring this track across half a dozen languages this month; Italian was still open on the morning of August 1. ✅ Confirmed open on Mercor, August 1. Strong fit if: you can hear what’s wrong with a mix and explain it in Italian. ➤ https://t.mercor.com/36U1Z
3. Expert Project Manager Not managing an AI project. Teaching AI how great project managers actually think: scoping, sequencing, stakeholder judgment, the recovery plan for when week six goes sideways. Deep PM experience is the credential; no AI background required. ✅ Confirmed open on Mercor, August 1. Strong fit if: you’ve run enough projects to know which risks are real and which are theater. ➤ https://t.mercor.com/x6l7a
4. Child & Adolescent Mental Health Clinical Advisor (AI Safety Benchmark Project) One of the most consequential seats we’ve listed. Clinicians with child and adolescent mental-health experience, shaping the safety benchmarks that decide how AI systems respond to young people in distress. Evaluation and advisory work; your clinical judgment is the product. ✅ Confirmed open on Mercor, August 1. Strong fit if: you’ve done real clinical work with young people and want that expertise protecting millions of them at once. ➤ https://t.mercor.com/rtDB4
5. Government & Public Policy Expert Policy professionals from government, think tanks, and public affairs, helping frontier models reason about how policy is actually made rather than how a textbook says it is. The gap between those two things is the entire point of the seat. ✅ Confirmed open on Mercor, August 1. Strong fit if: you’ve drafted, analyzed, or fought over real legislation or regulation. ➤ https://t.mercor.com/ozdBo
6. Management Consultant Talent Network A standing talent network for consultants: frameworks, market sizing, the discipline of a good recommendation under time pressure. Rolling intake rather than a single posting, which makes it one of the lower-friction doors into Mercor for anyone with a strategy background. ✅ Confirmed open on Mercor, August 1.Strong fit if: you’ve survived a few years at a consulting firm and can structure an ambiguous problem before lunch. ➤ https://t.mercor.com/lQHbw
7. UI/UX Design Expert Designers reviewing and grading AI-generated interfaces and design reasoning. As AI produces more first-draft product design, someone with taste has to define what “good” means. That’s the job. ✅ Confirmed open on Mercor, August 1. Strong fit if: you can articulate why a screen doesn’t work in one sentence, not just feel it. ➤ https://t.mercor.com/MYkMd
8. Bilingual Writer, Arabic (Egypt) Writers fluent in Arabic and English, producing and evaluating text for AI training. A reminder that the AI-training economy is not an English-only club: native-level command of a major world language is itself the qualification. ✅ Confirmed open on Mercor, August 1. Strong fit if: you write beautifully in both languages and can tell when a translation has lost its soul. ➤ https://t.mercor.com/Cix8Q
One interview covers you for all nine. If more than one track above sounds like you, say so in the interview, because the platform matches you against everything you qualify for.
Before you apply, read the other half
I wrote about what’s wrong with the platform: the tracks that go quiet after the interview, the parts of the payment model that work against you, and the situations where I’d tell you not to bother.
The Dark Side of Mercor You Should Know Before You Start
In November 2025, Mercor’s twenty-something founders became, by Forbes’ count, the world’s youngest self-made billionaires, after raising $350 million at a $10 billion valuation. About a week later, thousands of contractors on one of its largest AI training projects woke up locked out of Slack
I’ve earned $37,000 on Mercor over the last four months, which is exactly why I can be specific about its failure modes rather than vague about them.

How we verify
World Model (world-model.xyz) checks every listing before publishing it, and tells you which kind of evidence backs each one.
The nine Mercor tracks were confirmed open on the platform on August 1. I have also worked through Mercor myself and earned $37,000 over four months, which is why the notes on each track describe how the platform actually matches and pays rather than restating the posting.
The job-board and eleduck roles were confirmed live in the public index on August 1 and are marked accordingly. Treat those as “confirm before applying,” because postings close faster than indexes update.
Anything we could not confirm at the source does not appear here as verified. When our method has limits, we say so in this section rather than hiding it.
Get personalized job matches every week
This free edition gives you the same eighteen roles everyone else gets. But the AI-era job market is personal: a deck-crafting consultant in Singapore, a child psychologist in Toronto, and a designer in Chengdu don’t need the same list.
Paid subscribers get open DMs with me, plus a separate customized weekly jobs email. Tell me your background and what you’re optimizing for, and I’ll send the roles worth your time, including a straight read on whether a particular Mercor track suits your background, or whether it’s one of the ones that goes quiet after the interview. That read comes from someone who has actually been paid by these platforms, not someone summarising job descriptions.
See you next issue. And if you applied to anything on this list, reply and tell me. I want to know what’s working.
