18 Verified Remote & AI-Era Jobs for the AI-Powered Nomad (July 17, 2026)
For everyone using AI to build a freer way of working.
Real, verified openings — every issue.
Welcome to World Model — a weekly update to your world model of the AI-era job market. The method doesn’t change: we don’t publish a role we haven’t checked ourselves. This week that means seven Mercor tracks — six we personally applied to and were accepted into the system for on July 17, one verified by a reader’s confirmation receipt — plus hand-picked fully-remote roles from We Work Remotely and RemoteOK, and Chinese-friendly positions from eleduck. Where we couldn’t independently confirm a posting date, we say so in the listing. And one standing rule: when a role fits, apply the day you read this — verified-open is a snapshot, not a promise, and good listings close fast.
🤖 Mercor Picks — Contract Work at the Frontier AI Labs
A note on links: the Mercor links below are referral links. Applying through them supports the newsletter at no cost to you.
Jump straight in — this week’s seven verified-open tracks: ⚖️ Employment Law (US/UK · $225–$250/hr) · 🛡️ AI Safety Red Team ($70–$84/hr) · 🧾 Accounting ($85/hr) · 📈 Quant Finance ($150/hr) · 🏦 Investment Banking ($100–$130/hr) · 🛍️ Luxury Retail ($80–$160/hr) · 🚛 Truck Driver Survey (US · $28/hr)
Long-time readers know Mercor: one live AI interview matches you to contract work at top AI labs — fully remote, self-scheduled, paid weekly via Stripe or Wise. This issue’s set is the most professionally diverse we’ve ever run — law, AI safety, accounting, quant finance, investment banking, retail, and yes, truck driving, at rates from $28 to $250 an hour — and it comes with our strongest verification yet: we applied to six of the seven ourselves within the last 24 hours, and every one was accepted into the system on July 17 — no closure banners, no dead links. The seventh (investment banking) is reader-verified: a subscriber’s application went through on July 12 with a confirmation receipt. And these aren’t token engagements — the four tracks that publish hire counts show more than 1,200 people hired this month between them.
If you’re new: pick your track and start the application first — it takes minutes, and the AI interview is self-scheduled. Then, before your interview, read I Updated My Resume and Got an Instant Mercor Offer — exactly what I changed, how to position yourself, and which tracks actually pay.
1. ⚖️ US & UK-Based Labor & Employment Lawyers ($225–$250/hr)
Frontier labs need employment-law judgment in their training data: real lawyers evaluating how models reason about workplace disputes, contracts, and compliance across two jurisdictions. Deep domain knowledge is the qualification — no AI experience required.
Strong fit if you’re a practicing (or recently practicing) employment lawyer in the US or UK who can explain not just what the law says, but why the tempting answer is wrong.
2. 🛡️ AI Safety Red Teamer ($70–$84/hr)
Get paid to break AI models before bad actors do — probing frontier systems for unsafe behaviors and documenting how they fail. After last issue’s chemistry-PhD safety seat, this is the generalist door into the same mission: adversarial creativity matters more than a specific degree.
Strong fit if you’re the person who reads a new chatbot’s launch post and immediately thinks of five ways to make it misbehave.
3. 🧾 Accounting Expert ($85/hr)
Bring real bookkeeping, audit, and financial-reporting experience to train and evaluate AI on accounting workflows. A different seat from the finance-evaluator track we featured earlier this month — this one is about the craft of accounting itself. The listing shows 160 hired this month.
Strong fit if you’ve closed enough books to spot the reconciliation error a model glosses over.
4. 📈 Quantitative Finance Expert ($150/hr)
Derivatives, risk models, portfolio math — teach frontier models how quants actually reason. Your trading-desk war stories become the benchmark the next generation of financial AI gets graded against. The listing shows 191 hired this month.
Strong fit if you’ve built or validated quant models professionally and can design a problem that breaks a naive answer.
5. 🏦 Investment Banking Expert ($100–$130/hr)
A research project with a leading foundational-model AI lab: turn your deal experience into training and evaluation work. Asks for 3+ years of investment banking, preferably at a top firm, and it’s open across the US, UK, Canada, Europe, and Australia with rolling applications — and the listing shows 820 hired this month, so this is a volume track, not a lottery ticket. Reader-verified rather than self-verified: a World Model reader’s application went through on July 12 with a confirmation receipt.
Strong fit if you survived the analyst years and want those instincts earning frontier-lab rates instead of another all-nighter.
6. 🛍️ Retail / Clienteling Professionals ($80–$160/hr)
Luxury retail and clienteling experience is now AI training data: how you read a customer, build a relationship, and close without pressure. One of the most accessible seats in this issue — floor experience is the credential.
Strong fit if you’ve spent years in high-touch retail and can narrate the judgment calls behind a great customer interaction.
7. 🚛 Truck Driver — Research Survey (US · $28/hr)
You read that right. A paid research survey capturing how professional truck drivers actually work, as part of an ONET occupation study feeding AI research. US-based drivers only; the listing shows 30 hired this month. Low commitment, real signal about where the AI-training economy is heading: every profession’s tacit knowledge is becoming valuable.
Strong fit if you drive (or drove) professionally and want the lowest-friction paid entry into AI work we’ve ever listed.
Not sure which of the seven fits your résumé? That’s exactly what paid-subscriber DMs are for: tell me your background, and I’ll tell you which track is worth your time — and what to watch for in the AI interview.
🌍 Remote Jobs Hiring Now — RemoteOK & We Work Remotely
8. Business Operations Analyst @ TextUs ($70K–$85K, US-remote)
TextUs builds business texting software, and this seat sits at the middle of everything: dashboards and reporting for Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success, data quality, and the business systems that keep a SaaS company running. Posted this week, and cross-verified live on TextUs’s official Greenhouse board.
Strong fit if you have 3+ years in revenue ops or business ops and get genuine satisfaction from a clean, trustworthy dashboard.

9. Staff UI/UX Product Designer @ Hospitable ($120K–$160K + profit-share units, USA/EMEA)
Hospitable makes automation software for short-term rental hosts — a profitable, remote-first company beloved in the Airbnb-host world. Staff-level design seat, posted July 16, with salary stated plainly plus profit-share units on top. Live on the company’s official Workable board.
Strong fit if you want senior design ownership at a calm, profitable remote company instead of a burn-rate startup.

10. Virtual Executive Assistant @ Zirtual
Zirtual is one of the original virtual-assistant companies; this is their evergreen EA pipeline, re-posted this week. Client-facing calendar, inbox, and operations work with a revenue-split model — a proven first rung into full-remote work.
Strong fit if you’re organized to a fault and want a flexible remote income you can scale with your client load.

11. Designer @ Crevtus
One of the freshest listings in this issue, posted just two days ago. Crevtus wants a designer for still design across social creatives and larger brand-identity projects, reporting to a Lead Brand Strategist. Apply now and you’re near the front of the pile.
Strong fit if you’re a visual designer who can carry a brand system from Instagram tile to full identity without losing the thread.

12. Product Director, Edtech Digital Learning @ peopleworth
A director-level product seat shaping digital learning experiences — rare senior product leadership in edtech that’s fully remote. Posted this week on RemoteOK. Smaller company with a thinner public footprint, so read the listing closely before investing time.
Strong fit if you’ve shipped learning products and want to own the roadmap, not a slice of it.

13. Content Marketing Coordinator @ DesignFiles (Contract, apply by July 29)
DesignFiles makes project-management software for interior designers. This contract seat runs content marketing for a niche, passionate audience — and the contract structure means it stacks neatly with other clients if you’re building a portfolio career.
Strong fit if you can write for a specific professional audience in their own vocabulary, and want a deadline-bounded engagement with a real close date.

14. Customer Support Specialist @ Select Saunas ($40K + bonuses, US/Canada)
A small e-commerce brand (yes, saunas) hiring a remote support specialist — email and phone, no shift rotation drama. Note the application flow runs by email rather than an ATS, which is common at this company size; the listing has been live on WWR since roughly July 8.
Strong fit if you want a straightforward, human-scale remote support job without enterprise ticket quotas.

Chinese-Friendly Remote Opportunities (via eleduck)
Why this section exists: demand for remote work among Chinese-speaking professionals is enormous — and still badly underserved. Every week, boards like eleduck (China’s best-known remote-work community) fill with listings from cross-border teams, Chinese startups going global, and overseas companies that need Mandarin-speaking talent. Most of these never reach an international audience; we hand-pick a few each issue. It’s also one of the clearest signals in our world model: the remote-work economy is not an English-only phenomenon.
15. Remote Platform Operations (Direct Team Hire) @ Australia-Based Team (13K–16K RMB/month)
Brisbane HQ with an operations center in Nanjing: Monday–Friday, 09:00–18:00 Beijing time, full social insurance and housing fund, weekends off — a rare “proper employer” setup among Chinese-language remote roles. Requires 3+ years in platform, user, or B2B operations; the JD explicitly lists ChatGPT/Claude proficiency as a plus.
Strong fit if you want the freedom of remote work but also the security of real benefits and free weekends.
16. Omnichannel Social Media / E-commerce Operations (8K–13K RMB/month, pending re-verification)
Full-time remote role running social commerce across domestic channels (Xiaohongshu, Douyin) and overseas channels (Telegram, X, TikTok). The post doesn’t name the company and we couldn’t independently verify the posting date — confirm the listing is still live before you invest time in applying.
Strong fit if you can run both playbooks — domestic content-seeding and overseas growth — and want one role that uses them together.

17. Bilingual Chinese/English Customer Support @ Strikingly
Bilingual live-chat and email support at Strikingly, the veteran website-builder SaaS: full-time, 40 hours/week, 3+ years of experience required, with a one-month training period after joining. Strikingly is a perennial, well-regarded employer on eleduck; we couldn’t independently verify this post’s publication date, so double-check before applying.
Strong fit if your Chinese and English are both strong enough to calm a frustrated user, and you want to join a genuinely global Chinese-founded startup.
18. Remote Assistant (Strong English Required, Full-Time)
A low-barrier, full-time remote assistant seat: strong English is the core requirement, and the work centers on coordination, communication, and day-to-day operational support. Well suited to readers who want into remote work but don’t yet have a “hard technical skill” label — assistant roles are the most common first stepping stone into the remote economy.
Strong fit if you’re fluent in English, quick to respond, and self-managing with your time — and you want a steady remote role to start your digital-nomad life.

FAQ
Is Mercor legit? Based on our own use: yes. One live AI interview matches you to contract work at frontier AI labs, fully remote and self-scheduled, with weekly payouts via Stripe or Wise. I’ve been through the application myself (see I Updated My Resume and Got an Instant Mercor Offer), and a reader following our playbook reports $37,000 over four months on the platform. All seven tracks we verified this week are linked in the first section of this issue.
How does World Model verify these jobs? For Mercor tracks, we apply ourselves before publishing — six of the seven in this issue were accepted into the system on July 17, and the seventh carries a reader’s July 12 confirmation receipt. For job-board roles, we link only to official company boards or long-standing sources, and when we can’t independently confirm a posting date, we flag it in the listing itself.
